Food:

This is fine dining with an Italian bent under the skilled hands of chef Clayton Bell. Starters include superb carpaccio, or the irresistible fish with ginger dressing or beef with rocket and vinaigrette. Staying with the Italian theme, try the panzerotti filled with ricotta and anointed with parmesan cream sauce; poached sole fillets on a bed of spinach with parmesan; mushrooms and tomatoes baked in a velouté sauce; or roasted lamb noisette with baby potatoes and creamy garlic soubise. The knockout dessert is bread and butter pud served either hot or cold with fresh cream.

Wine:

An excellent list, featuring their award-winning wines and other treasures from the valley.

Service:

As one would expect: slick and charming in the old world style.

Ambience:

One of the finest restaurants the Cape has to offer, it’s a legend in its own lifetime. The ambience is calming and relaxed, and you are taken back to an age of comfort and class with glorious views of this neck of the woods.

And...:

Bring someone special and spoil them. (GL, October 2011)
