This is my favourite and happy place in Hermanus. The seafood is always fresh and beautifully displayed on a huge platter. And the prawn curry pot is the best. Service is one of the best in Hermanus. Mardene le Roux
I arrived with my family at the quayside cabin. There was no one to greet or seat us. The table we wanted was dirty. Since the restaurant only had two other diners and it was around three in the afternoon I would have thought the place would have been cleaned up a bit. After standing around the kitchen staff cleaned up the table and seated us. The staff then shouted for the server. The server/waitron was useless and rude. Throughout the entire time we were there we were asked once what we wanted to drink. He never came back to see if we needed anything or a refill. He spent his time chatting to another person or was outside smoking. We ordered snoek samosas. Inside we found a large fish bone. My father pointed this out to which the waitron replied it's not their fault as they buy the stuff in. What an unprofessional answer. Of course it's their fault. They sell the stuff. While waiting for the food I had the grim experience of watching the waitron scratching the back of his neck and then touching the cutlery while rolling it in the serviettes. I could see into the kitchen area where I could see the cooks eating. The food came and was below par. Bad food. Bad service. Bad experience. Grubby place. We won't be back.
Apart from dry rice the food was very good, but the service spoiled our lunch. The waiters nails and clothes were dirty and he looked and acted irritated with our table, every request was met with negativity. We asked for Green Tabasco and was told they do not stock it until someone ask, which we did and there was none, they ran out of ice so we had hot drinks and when it came to paying the bill he was annoyed that we were paying the over R2000 bill with 2 cards and annoyingly went on to explaining to me that there cash up system is not like other restaurants and that he would basically prefer his tip in cash. He made us feel like he was doing us a favor by serving us and letting us eat there. Sadly I will not be back there are plenty of places to choose from in and around the Hermanus area.

Dirty with friendly service. Sorry but when your feet stick to the floor when you walk in, when your arms also stick to the table when you sit... not a good sign.
Service semi-friendly, all waiters were sitting at a table next to us reading newspapers and getting up when we needed them - really?
Food was average but we had kind of lost our appetites because of the filth. Will not go back.

I love this little rustic spot in the new harbour in Hermanus. It is a gem that should never be missed if you are staying in Hermanus or visiting. It is simple and delicious fresh seafood - the calamari (the fried one) is one of the nicest I have ever had! This spot is chilled out and fun!
