Food:

Crispy duck, rolled pork neck and a foie gras-and-duck liver parfait are but some of the dishes on this menu. Ostrich keftes lends a Mediterranean-feel to the good value offering, while the angel fish, wrapped in the lightest batter and served with mushy peas and garlic aioli, is a highlight. But it’s here the sweet tooth finds heaven – try the chocolate pot or dreamy semifreddo with bits of malva stirred in. Yum.

Wine:

Boutique wines are listed with vintages and tasting notes – just enough information to find something rare and good without it being a trying read.

Service:

One owner takes care of the guests, the other’s in the kitchen. Both are experienced, so if there are ever problems there’s no mucking about.

Ambience:

The reed-covered verandah at the back is great in hot weather, as breezes sift through nearby vines and bluegum trees. Stylish, but not overly formal interior.

And...:

There are big lawns for the kids to play on, and the chef makes cheese that’s for sale.

Had a fab lunch at Taste, our group of 5 adults and 2 youngsters were treated to an amazing array of perfectly cooked and presented classics. Wonderful service also. We so look forward to our return. Thanks

Our trip to Taste was a rather impromptu decision and one which we were glad we made.

Our party was made up of three generations, which included two impressively fussy teenage girls, one of whom is not just a vegetarian but is allergic to wheat and gluten as well.

The restaurant is small, personal and relaxed - which we love. We chose to sit outback where there are about 4 tables undercover with a view of the mountain (albeit a limited one). The private area with the constant cool breeze made the position the perfect place to have an unrushed Sunday lunch.

The food menu is only one page, however, there was something for everyone. The wine menu is pretty extensive, especially in comparison to the food menu. Our choices included perfectly grilled fillet which was topped with a dark mushroom sauce, rack of lamb, roast chicken with roasted potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, a veggie platter and scrumptious, crispy duck, which really was crispy! Small platters of vegetables were placed on the table which we could help ourselves to. The service was faultless; our waitress was informative and attentive without being intrusive. The owner is there to assist you with any queries or concerns which you may have, as well as to take your order. I can confidently say everyone of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

This is where one goes for food that is unpretentious, uncomplicated but simply delicious.
