Food:

Great thin-crust pizzas – either white or with tomato bases – are blistered from a real, hot pizza oven and topped with the best fior di latte. There’s marvellous pasta, including one of the best funghi sauces you’ll ever eat, and a bottomless pizza feast for groups of six or more at R125 a head. Check for daily specials.

Wine:

A small but well-priced list of local wines, and one or two Italian options. Some excellent local and Italian beers.

Service:

Friendly and warm.

Ambience:

The large space works against intimacy, so take a group of friends and let your hair down. Massimo from Piedmont and Tracy from Liverpool seem to have a winning formula: this was previously their Pizza Club which has deservedly attracted devotees from far and wide.

And...:

Try a sweet pizza, topped with real French marron glacé, or chocolate with bananas, ricotta, almonds and honey. Do not miss the fabulous Limoncello Massimo makes. (GL, October 2011)
