Food:

From burgers with all the trimmings, to lamb chops, sirloins and fillet steaks, quality is evident in everything on the menu. And while the main features are excellent, sides are almost better, with great baked potatoes, really decent chips and gobsmackingly good creamed spinach. The Caesar salad too, while not entirely authentic, is undeniably, scrape-the-bottom-of-the-bowl delicious. Only the onion rings – such a staple necessity in a grillhouse - need be avoided: a lot of ring and not much onion.

Wine:

a wide range of top end stuff, with quite a few champagnes in the mix. More excellent choices await in the restaurant’s cellar.

Service:

sweet and professional

Ambience:

retro almost-kitsch, with a glamorous big city eighties feel.

And...:

arrive early and have a cocktail or three at the zooty hotel bar. (AB, September 2010)
