Food:

Banish those hunger pangs with a taster of lovely corn broth with basil oil, served with dainty melba rounds topped with cucumber and smoked salmon. Then start the meal proper with a superb goat’s cheese tartlet with roasted tomato, caramelised onion and pesto, followed by perfectly executed prawn risotto with lobster sauce. For mains, beef fillet with port jus will not disappoint, and conclude the meal with a buttermilk and lime panna cotta. Following the latter-day trend of serving a second dessert, the chef also prepares a decadent chocolate tart garnished with candied kumquat and granadilla.

Wine:

Carefully selected wines are served with each course to complement and enhance the meal, including Kaapzicht Pinotage, Jean Daneel Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot and Iona Sauvignon Blanc.

Service:

Given the size and nature of the establishment, the staff complement is limited and multi-tasking is the name of the game, but service is carried out with friendliness and care.

Ambience:

A small, well appointed dining room can be extended with the inclusion of new conference facilities. Décor is understated and muted, with elegant cutlery and stemware.

And...:

This is a great location just off the busy section of Rosebank. Bookings are essential, but you can get a personalised meal at any time of the day. (HF, October 2011)
