Food:

Aimed at high-end guests, the menu is sophisticated. (The cheese soufflé served with herbs and mustard cream is the stand-out.) Duck is a speciality, served with a traditional orange sauce. Prices are staggeringly high for what you get, though, and the food struggles to justify these rates.

Wine:

At the time of writing, the liquor licence had just been approved, but the wine list was unavailable.

Service:

Extremely disappointing. A manager doubling up as a waitron left one feeling unattended to.

Ambience:

Set in a Sir Herbert Baker building dating back to 1902, with several inter-leading rooms, the space is jaw-droppingly beautiful. High-ceilings and parquet flooring have been beautifully restored and the restaurant shares the premises with a bookshop, creating a brilliant look and feel. Exquisite art hangs on the walls, with a customised room featuring as a gallery.

And...:

Watch out for their themed cookbook menu, where one of the books from the adjoining shop is displayed and certain dishes chosen from it as menu items. (AF, September 2010)
