Food:

Good lunch-style grub is the thing at +27 Design Café and it all comes in the form of croissants. Try the gorgonzola and pear croissant or dig into the chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and olive croissant. The three mini burgers (ham, cheese and a plain burger) are a hunger buster of note. A recent kitchen expansion promises to raise the bar. The prices are super low and this joint is one of the most underestimated in Pretoria.

Wine:

Not licensed. Opt for the strawberry or Turkish delight smoothie instead. The cappuccinos are great too.

Service:

Fast and friendly.

Ambience:

A designer joint bustling with Pretoria street life. The space doubles as a gallery exhibiting work of young Pretoria designers and photographers. Designer gifts are a must-buy. Exhibition openings once a month feature good bands that draw large crowds.

And...:

And… The cafe is a free Wi-Fi zone, design goodie shop and gallery space! (GU, September 2010)
