Still my most favourite pizza spot in JHB, especially if you like thin based crispy bases. One of only a few restaurants that light a fire in the cold weather, making the already tiny spot even more cozy. Simple wine list and they now take cards, which is a win. Definitely recommended!!
Great place to go! Went there with big expectations and they were met! Pizzas were out of this world. Shared a four seasons and a republiek. Divine. Service could be improved - we were a bigger group and had to ask to get attention, but other than that an awesome night out!
Best Pizzas in Melville, could be a bit cheaper, but hey everything could be cheaper in life. Outside surrounded by nature or inside, dining in a place with so much character, absolutely fell in love with this spot. You wont be disappointed.
After reading some of the good reviews on the Ant Cafe we decided to try it out on Friday night. It lasted all of 10 minutes. The place is dark and unwelcoming. The hostess looked irritable and WAS irritable. When I commented on how hot it was inside her response was> :Well it is hot everywhere". It was so hot and pressing that we decided to leave. NO one could possibly enjoy a meal in those conditions. The back of the restaurant was open but we were placed at a table which was so close to other tables we could hear their breathing. VERY disappointing.
The pizza isn't just thin, it's barely there - we couldn't even lift up the slices. I'm not sure if this was a case of not cooking the base enough? Anyway, it wasn't great thin-based pizza. Also, the plates were dirty, the lamb on the lamb pizza was tough... perhaps it was an off day, but I really wouldn't go back.
