Horrible! What a terrible experience, Vanilla appears to be on the verge of going out of business. Most of the food we wanted to order was not available or only enough for one person, we waited over 2 hours to get food and 2 of us got no food at all. Two people ordered different steak dishes but the exact same one arrived and we were told they were not the same. They refuse to turn the aircon on as it is too expensive, the toilets close by to the restaurant are locked and you have to walk far away to find others. The manager is in complete denial and won't assist at all. Don't know how this place has not closed down already - shameful disgrace for the Cape Quarter.

I don't usually like to complain but this was my third time trying this restaurant. It was by far the worst experience I've ever had. We had to wait two hours for our food to arrive, we all ate at different stages - as the food arrived in dribs and drabs. One of my friends never recieved their meal at all and gave up at 11h30. The vegetarian was given a meal which contained meat in, that she hadn't ordered. The restaurant had advertised that cocktails were half price up until 8 o'clock. Only for us to be told once the bill had arrived that it's actually 7:30! My pasta dish was half cooked and dry, some of my friends had burnt vegetables or some that were plain raw. The one waitress could barely speak english and when asked if we could have some tap water we were told it wasn't possible as they were having a function on! What difference that makes baffels me! I always like to try a restaurant a couple of times before writing it off. This place is a joke, it is so over priced and under staffed! What's even worse is that the general manager had no idea what was going on even though we were clearly one of the biggest tables that were there and not once did the manager come over and check to see how our meal was going!
