Blowfish Restaurant (Bloubergstrand)

The venue offers unrivalled views of Table Mountain and Table Bay, making this a perfect spot for a romantic date or leisurely sunny lunch. The restaurant prides itself on being a supporter of the South African Seafood Initiative (SASSI), so diners can rest assured that the seafood here is sustainable wherever possible. There are five glorious platters to choose from, ranging in price from R250 to R795. Options include the sustainable seafood platter for two, with SASSI green-listed fish like sardines, tuna, mussels, yellowtail and oysters, or the luxurious shellfish platter with oysters, mussels, queen prawns, langoustines and crayfish. At Blowfish, seafood platters come with savoury rice and fries, as well as lemon butter, garlic butter and peri-peri sauce.

Bungalow (Clifton)

Endless ocean views and perfect sunsets from the large outside seating area make this a fantastic place to take tourists and visitors. Their offering of fruits of the sea is wide ranging and includes a great sushi selection, plus their signature dish, the seafood platter. It consists of crayfish tails, plump prawns, langoustines, calamari and line fish, along with accompanying sauces of lemon, garlic and peri-peri.

Café Orca (Melkbosstrand)

This welcoming neighbourhood favourite offers up delectable seafood and gorgeous Melkbosstrand views. Guests can find a seat on the beachfront patio or inside the beach cottage, and plump for a lavish seafood platter for two (R439). This includes two line fish, 12 prawns, calamari and a handful of mussels doused in a creamy garlic sauce. It’s served with baby veggies and a choice of chips or rice. Alternatively, there’s the large Melkbos platter of fried prawns, calamari and hake, and the West Coast platter with lighter options of hake, three prawns, calamari and creamy garlic mussels.
