Amazing sushi specials in Cape Town right now

From discount platters to all-you-can-eat buffets, it’s time to put on your game face (and your best pair of elasticated pants).

Active Sushi  (City Bowl)

Go hungry, but don’t take more than your stomach can handle when you visit Active Sushi between Tuesdays and Sundays, from 5.30pm to 10pm. For just R199 you can eat as much as you like for a sitting time limit of 90 minutes. You’ll be charged an additional R8 for every piece of sushi you don’t eat. There are also various lunch specials on offer from Mondays to Saturdays between 11.30am and 3.30pm.

Asami (Northern suburbs, Somerset West, Knysna)

According to the menu, Asami welcomes you to treat your tastebuds with ‘open hearts’. Why not do so while opting for one of the many specials on offer? These include an all-you-can-eat buffet for R179 (kids pay R115); the buy-one-get-one-free special on Tuesdays and Thursdays; three combos for the price of two on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and the option to add any plate of sushi to your combo for just R30.

Beluga (De Waterkant)

While it offers many delicious meals, Beluga is most well known for its sushi, thanks largely to its popular specials, which are available from 12pm to 6pm every day, except Sunday when they’re available all day. The specials menu ranges from cucumber maki for R20 to platters for R275.

Best of Asia (Gardens)

Blink and you might miss this hidden gem while walking in Kloof Street, which you wouldn’t want to do as you’d miss out on the sushi buffet for just R149 per person. The buffet is available from Mondays to Sundays, as is the buy-one-get-one-free (of the same colour plate) promotion.

Blowfish (Tableview)

Take in arguably one of the best views of Table Mountain from the West Coast while you tuck into delicious (and discounted) sushi. Every Wednesday and Sunday from 5pm to 8pm, Blowfish serves up its sushi at half the price.

As their slogan states: “Everyone loves John Dory’s” and that’s especially true for sushi fans after a good deal. Every Wednesday, the outlets around the country offer half-price sushi. Or from 11am to 4pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays you can choose any three green plates off the sushi belt for just R99.

Harbour House (V&A Waterfront)

What makes the perfect combo? Harbour House thinks it’s sushi and wine, which is why it introduced the ‘Sushi Platter Special’. The offer, available for lunch and dinner, includes a 32-piece salmon sushi platter and a bottle of white or red wine for R559.

Towers Restaurant (Century City)

Seek refuge from the sweltering sun at the iconic suspended pool deck at the Crystal Towers hotel. If you visit on a Thursday you can also take advantage of the half-price sushi and cocktails between 4.30pm and 7pm.
