Big Easy Wine Bar & Grill by Ernie Els (Durban) 🍽
The ‘Grill’ section of the menu features premium-grade rump, sirloin and fillet steaks, lamb and pork ribs, lamb cutlets, peri peri baby chicken or spice-rubbed breast – all served with a choice of Big Easy fries, a side salad, sautéed veggies, rice or mashed potatoes. The Midlands duck – slow-roasted and served with cashew-nut butter curry sauce and traditional sambals, rice and roti – is also a definite must-try.

Butcher Boys (Umhlanga)
Cater to your carnivore cravings with a variety of meaty meals from Butcher Boys. All the beef here is either wet- or dry-aged for 25 to 35 days, and is basted before being grilled to perfection on an open flame. Dishes like the carnivore’s feast (where you create your own meal by choosing from a selection of various cuts), côte de bœuf and the impressive fillet espetada make this menu memorable.

Little Havana (Umhlanga)
Little Havana is known for its perfectly executed free-range and hormone-free steaks – mostly wet-aged – from its on-site butchery. The meat-focused menu features a variety of beef cuts like rump, wet-aged fillet, sirloin and rib-eye, dry-aged fillet on the bone and T-bone all ranging from 200g to 600g. Other options include chicken-and-prawn curry, pork belly and ostrich au poivre.
Views at Twenty5 (Morningside)
Meet at Views at Twenty5 for a modern and modified shisa nyama experience while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views of the city. Mains boast meat platters including chicken wings, boerewors and beef and lamb cutlets with sides like infused pap, chakalaka and jeqe (steamed bread). Or try the herb-crusted lamb rack with creamy gorgonzola mash.

The Cow Shed (East London)
The Cow Shed offers a variety of dishes with perfectly prepared meat as the focus. They have a selection of cured meats and juicy pork ribs, but the steak is the star of the show. Try the fillet steak with mushroom-and-thyme sauce served with sides like sweet potato chips, skinny fries, onion rings or roast vegetables.
