Beyond our borders: A food-hall fit for a queen

Its not often that one can celebrate a 300th anniversary of any kind, and if you are able to, only a jubilation of suitably spectacular proportions will do.

In celebrating their 300th anniversary, the world famous Piccadilly department store, Fortnum and Mason has just unveiled its newly renovated, two-tiered food-hall.

Well-known for its exquisite range of jams, preserves, chocolates and teas, F&M spared no expense in redesigning its foodie heaven, with produce now being displayed in custom-designed, brass-edged, cherrywood gondolas which came at £14,000 each, reports Wallpaper.com

The heavenly market also includes a biblioteque of preserves and honey featuring amongst others nectars from its own rooftop hives.

In keeping with its Georgian origins, some features such as the famous art collection, the crimson carpets, extravagant chandeliers and of course, the strong emphasis on seasonality, authenticity and the best of British, were preserved.
