Blanko: New restaurant to open at The Alphen in Constantia this week

Blanko, a new Italian eatery at The Alphen Hotel in Constantia, will open its doors on Wednesday 12 October. The Kove Collection – the restaurant group that brought us Umi in Camps Bay and Pepenero in Mouille Point – is behind this new venture.

The new space takes over the former 5 Rooms Restaurant space, and will see group head chef Amber-May Deetlefs prepare traditional Italian fare. Dishes will be uncomplicated and honest, including well-loved items like crumbed veal with lemon and capers, butternut ravioli with brown sage butter, and coffee-and-marsala zabaglione.

Founder and MD of the Kove Collection, Paul Kovensky has a passion for art, which shows in the space. Blanko’s white canvas-like interior features artwork by renowned contemporary South African artists from Cape Town’s Goodman Gallery.

Kovensky believes that Blanko is the breath of fresh air the Alphen Hotel needs, where the ‘old world’ meets the contemporary.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Sunday.
