Where to celebrate Father’s Day on 19 June 2016

On Sunday 19 June, treat dad to a hearty meal at one of his favourite restaurants. Our list of restaurants celebrating Father’s Day will ensure he’s filled with good food and cherished family memories. Besides, it’s a lot better than giving him another pair of socks.

 

Johannesburg

A La Bouffe (Linden)

Chefs on Main (Kyalami)

Head to Kyalami for a fun day out with the family and spoil your dad on his special day for R240 per adult and R85 per child. The price includes delicious Portuguese-style food including prawns, espetada, trinchado and loads more, plus live music and kiddies’ entertainment.

Clico Restaurant (Rosebank)

Treat dad to a three-course lunch at R295 per person. EAT fine dining (Northcliff)

The Fat Olive (Lanseria)

Lacuna Bistro and Bar (Sandton)

Treat your dad to a Father’s Day buffet at Lacuna. The menu boasts options like local charcuterie with pickles and chutney; herb-crusted sirloin with Yorkshire pudding, red-wine jus and a creamy potato bake; and milk-tart doughnuts for dessert. Celebrate at CinCin’s annual Father’s Day lunch. Five buffet stations will be set up, with a selection of favourite dishes like creamy chicken-and-corn soup, Cajun chicken salad, lamb potjiekos with jasmine rice, boerewors with roasted corn on the cob, and tiramisu for dessert. Durbanville Hills Restaurant (Durbanville)

The special all-day menu is available for R195 for two courses and R245 for three courses, and includes a glass of bubbles or small draught beer for dad. Shimmy Beach Club will be hosting a market day for dads with food stalls, men’s fragrances, Jameson whiskey tasting, traditional barbers, craft cider and biltong, as well as cars and motor bikes on display. The special Father’s Day lunch menu will include a theatrical performance that’s perfect for theatre-loving dads. The five-course set menu costs R390 per person and includes dishes like lemon fatoush salad, crispy squid, beef Wellington with new potatoes, apricot cake with ice cream and crème brûlée.

The Farm Shop & Deli, The Rhone Homestead, The Werf Restaurant and the lawns at Boschendal Estate (Franschhoek)

Families can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Farm Shop & Deli or a traditional Cape buffet lunch at the Rhone Homestead for R295 per person. Executive Chef Christiaan Campbell will also be offering his popular farm-style dishes at the Werf Restaurant. The Governors Hall at Lanzerac Wine Estate (Stellenbosch)

Webersburg Wine Estate (Stellenbosch)

Enjoy a delightful Father’s Day with a lunch at this Stellies wine farm bistro. The three-course set menu costs R380 per person and consists of main dishes such as lamb shank with mashed potato, buttered leeks and baby vegetables; rooibos-braised springbok shank with sweet potato, bacon and white wine; and braised eisbein with parsley, roasted garlic mash and parmesan-roasted brussels sprouts. Continuing the winter theme is a warm fig and butterscotch pudding for dessert.
