Where to celebrate Father’s Day in the Western Cape

Looking for somewhere to celebrate Father’s Day? These spots in the Western Cape have got you and the father figure in your life covered, with everything from Sunday roasts to steak-filled feasts.

Cape Town

Azure Restaurant (Camps Bay)

Book your spot and spoil dad with a Father’s Day feast highlighted by glorious sea views. The buffet lunch will cost R595 per person and includes a welcome drink on arrival.

The Conservatory at The Cellars-Hohenort (Constantia)

Treat dad to a delicious ‘Steak on the Braai’ lunch at The Conservatory. Choose between three steak options: A dry-aged sirloin with mustard herb crust (300g) for R200, a free range beef fillet with bone marrow jus (300g) for R240, a T-bone steak with smoked barbecue sauce (600g) for R250, or a banting beef burger in a giant brown mushroom bun (300g) for R165. To accompany your steak selection, there’ll be a choice of sauces including  truffle mushroom, brandy green pepper, or biltong butter. Steaks will be accompanied with your choice of side for an extra R45. Prices also include a Devils Peak golden ale or a glass of Eagles’ Nest shiraz.

COPA Restaurant (City Bowl)

Treat your Dad to a delicious two-course lunch and a Jack Daniel’s inspired cocktail for just R225. Bookings are essential.

Grub & Vine (City Bowl)

Treat dad to lunch at Grub & Vine with a five-course Sunday roast with all the trimmings, including crispy golden potatoes and rich gravy, followed by a decadent sweet treat for R550 per person (plus glass of bubbles on arrival). When you’re finished, head across the passage to neighbouring wine bar Frogitt & Vonkel, where you can peruse the selection of premium local and international wines while listening to live music.

Hussar Grill (National)

Enjoy a slap-up steak dinner or lunch. All fathers will also receive a complimentary 330ml Darling Brew beer to enjoy with their meal.

Lupa Osteria (National)

Tuck into a special Father’s Day Italian feast for R195 per person. The three-course menu includes dishes like gorgonzola snails, wood-roasted baby chicken and a scoop of Freddos Gelato.

Mint Restaurant (City Bowl)

Spend the day exploring the city and treat dad to lunch or dinner at Mint Restaurant & Terrace. Celebrate the special man in your life with a delicious two-course meal for R250 per person, excluding a draught beer or a glass of wine, or R295 per person including a draught beer or a glass of wine.

Taj Lobby Lounge (City Bowl)

Celebrate the special man in your life with a decadent afternoon tea filled with sweet and savoury delights. R250 per person includes a gin cocktail on arrival.

Tiger’s Milk (National)

On Father’s Day, the first 50 dads at each Tiger’s Milk store will get a complimentary Part Wolf Lager, Part Wolf Lite or Tiger’s Milk Lager with lunch.

Winelands

The Bakery at Jordan (Stellenbosch)

Spend the day at Jordan Wine Estate with The Bakery’s beef-and-reef special for R185 per person. This includes a chargrilled sirloin with tiger prawns in a creamy garlic sauce, served with pumpkin pie and green beans wrapped in prosciutto.

The Kraal (Muldersvlei)

Enjoy a relaxed lunch at this picturesque estate for R360 per person. This includes a three-course spread of dishes like fior di latte mozzarella marinated with origanum and lemon zest; Cape Wagyu beef shin osso bucco on creamy herb polenta; and a moist dark chocolate and almond cake with pistachio ice cream for dessert.

Kunjani Wines and Restaurant (Stellenbosch)

Treat dad to a lazy lunch at this eclectic wine farm with a feast for R325 per person. This includes a flammkuchen, slow-braised beef, a hearty winter soup, roasted veggies and a selection of sweet dessert to end the meal.

The Manor Kitchen (Stellenbosch)

The Manor Kitchen will serve its popular four-course Sunday lunch at R390 per person. For those wanting to enjoy a relaxed afternoon beneath the trees, the Deli will serve light meals, charcuterie boards and freshly baked treats. At the Tasting Room and Deli, dads will be welcomed with a complimentary taster of Lanzerac pinotage and biltong.

The Restaurant at Grande Provence (Franschhoek)

Celebrate Father’s Day with a three-course meal at The Restaurant at Grande Provence. Start things off with an amuse bouche of samoosa-and-biltong churros before you tuck into beef skilpadjies or cured kabeljou for starters. The choice for hearty mains is between beef Wellington with parsnip puree and fondant potatoes, or line fish coconut curry with tomato, basil, spinach and mussel tempura. For dessert, enjoy poached guava with homemade guava cake and yoghurt sorbet, or malva pudding with fresh berries and warm custard. The cost is R495 per person and booking is essential. The Taphuis (Stellenbosch)

The Taphuis will be serving sharing platters that have been prepared on open fires by the Lanzerac chefs. Savour dishes such as pinotage-basted pork loin ribs, smoked beef brisket and skaapstertjies, slowly roasted over a bed of coals, with apricot aïoli and mini braaibroodjies on the side. Seating is from 12pm and the entire experience, including a pint of Lanzerac’s Angus ale, will cost R545 per platter and serves two adults.
