That’s right, banters and carb-free eaters, The Conservatory at The Cellars-Hohenort in Constantia has now launched a low-carb option for your next indulgent but guilt-free afternoon tea. If you’re a LCHF devotee, it can often be tricky to dine out without breaking your diet, but following a low-carb diet shouldn’t mean you aren’t able to enjoy the finer things in life. At The Cellars, the lower-in-carb tea treats are set to be just as indulgent and satisfactory as a regular high tea.

Find your spot on their glorious gardens, or cosy up in front of the fire on cooler days and enjoy the delicious array of low-carb offerings. The menu will include items such as grass-fed beef and peppadew sosaties, a selection of hummus, lavash and crudités, broccoli, roasted red peppers and goat’s cheese tarts, and prawn Vietnamese rice paper rolls bringing an Asian flavour into the mix.

On the sweeter side, enjoy dark chocolate and beetroot cupcakes, sugar-free fresh fruit pavlovas, yoghurt-honey panna cotta, homemade seed grain bars, and for those who would still like to indulge in some carbs, the signature scones are served with sugar-free strawberry jam and whipped cream cheese to keep calories at a minimum.

Alongside this delicious yet un-wicked menu, non-dieters can still enjoy their favourites like bite-size pastries and open sandwiches with coronation chicken; roast beef, red onion and horseradish; and smoked salmon and chives on squid-ink ciabatta.

The cost of The Conservatory’s low carb high tea is R195 per person including tea or coffee and is available from 3pm to 5pm daily.
