Drool over these insane new milkshakes made by Sea Point chocolatier, My Sugar

Hot on the heels of their absurd, drool-worthy cake jars, Sea Point chocolatiers My Sugar have created a new Instagram-worthy treat: magnificent, oversized milkshakes. Served in large glass flagons, the milkshakes are made with homemade vanilla soft serve and come in flavours directly inspired by the café’s specialist confectionary.

The shakes (R45) come in a range of flavours, including miso caramel (topped with the popular miso caramel Buddha, cookie butter and butterscotch popcorn); creamy coffee (made with the café’s signature blend); caramelised coconut; and super chocolate. Lest the shakes themselves not be considered decadent enough, all are topped with vanilla-bean whipped cream plus extra toppings like chocolate-drizzled brownie, choc-chip cookie, chocolate shavings, white chocolate, coffee bean and cocoa nib shards – all made in house.

The shakes are, in part, inspired by Australian café, Pâtissez, whose ‘freakshakes’ went viral on Instagram, and the wider media, earlier this year. “We wanted to do something familiar with our twist, and with summer on our doorsteps, milkshakes were a perfect fit,” explains My Sugar owner, Kaylah Greenberg. So far, she says the super chocolate flavour has been the most popular: “I think that people assume that because we’re a chocolate shop our chocolate milkshake must be killer – and they’re so right.”

According to Greenberg, more flavours are in the works. Our collective minds boggle.
