Christmas Day lunch buffet: Book your spot at Central One this Christmas for the lunch buffet and enjoy highlights like roast leg of lamb served with a rosemary-and-port jus, oxtail braised in red wine and cinnamon, chicken and prawn yellow Thai curry served with steamed basmati rice, roti, poppadum and sambals, koeksister croquembouche and port-flavoured berry-and-poached-peach trifle. Dishes include the seared tuna coated in seven spices served on wasabi mayo; cannelloni with spinach, ricotta sauce and a leek velouté; duo of roast beef fillet and stuffed turkey breast; and spiced orange parfait. Christmas Day lunch: Piccolo Mondo is cooking up a storm for Christmas lunch this year, with a three-course set menu and buffet. Expect favourites from the buffet’s cold selection, like Dullstroom smoked salmon trout with caviar, and garlic New Zealand mussels, amongst many others. Hot favourites include rosemary-and-thyme roasted leg of lamb and grilled sea bass with creamed leek. There will also be an array of desserts like sherry trifle, traditional Christmas pudding with brandy butter, pecan nut pie and croquembouche. The set menu features choices like gammon with roulade, cheese and mustard créme, crispy parma ham and pineapple salsa, braised shoulder, lamb neck tortellini, and traditional Christmas pudding with orange crème anglaise, hazelnut ice-cream and Frangelico-whipped butter.
