9th Avenue Bistro (Morningside)

Book your spot at this Morningside favourite to enjoy a four-course meal for R495. The offering will also include a glass of bubbles on arrival.

Chef Kaylah-Ann Osborn took home the Eat Out Rising Star Award at last year’s Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards. Treat your loved one to a taste of her cooking on 14 February with a four-course menu for R595 per person. Highlights include tomato ravioli with textures of tomato and crème fraîche; local steamed mussels with coconut and ginger; and lamb rump with chilli aubergine and parmesan. DL Boutique & Café (Umhlanga Rocks)

Spoil that someone special for lunch or dinner at DL this Valentine’s Day. Look forward to their Amuse Bouche starter, main meal options of Surf and Turf (Sirloin steak with mussels), mushroom, feta chicken roulade, lamb chops served with a pea puree and mint jus. Dessert promises to end off the evening on a sweet note with their cardamom pannacotta, their chocolate fondant served with vanilla ice cream and raspberries coulis or their pavlova with fresh fruit and Chantilly. Lunch is served from 11am to 2pm and dinner from 4pm to 7pm at R220 per person. Booking is essential.

The Grill Room at the Oyster Box (Umhlanga)

Enjoy a Valentine’s Day dinner on 14 February at The Grill Room, where there will be dinner and dancing. R1200 per person will include a six-course plated menu, dancing to a live band, and a gift. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Havana Grill (Suncoast Casino)

Enjoy an evening of good steak at this steakhouse. The Valentine’s Day dinner menu will cost R350 per person and will include dishes like beef carpaccio with goat’s cheese and pickled cucumber; flame-grilled triple-A steak with brandy peppercorn jus; and a Lover’s Duet dessert for two with malva pudding and a chocolate brownie. The dinner will also include a cocktail on arrival.

Kaya Beach (Bluff)

Enjoy Valentine’s Day Durban-style at this beach-themed restaurant. From 10.30am until close on 14 February, lovers can feast on a set menu for R200 per person. Highlights include mussel pot starters; ribs; chicken schnitzel or hake for mains; and chocolate mousse to end things off. Pizzas will also be available.

La Vue Floating Restaurant (Durban Harbour)

Set off on a Valentine’s evening cruise aboard this floating restaurant. The dinner and cruise costs R1100 per person and includes a four-course meal, a 2,5 hour cruise, a live band, salsa dancers, a gift bag for the ladies and a glass of Moët & Chandon Champagne on arrival. The menu will feature dishes like summer prawn cocktail, beef medallions with a cheese sauce, and a chocolate love cake for dessert.

Little Havana (Umhlanga Rocks)

For R395 per person, enjoy a Valentine’s dinner with a special set menu including an arrival cocktail and an amuse bouche. The menu will feature dishes like crispy Norwegian salmon fish cakes, roast lamb with potato and spring onion rosti, and a lover’s tasting plate to share for dessert.

Makaranga Garden Lodge (Kloof)

Enjoy a delicious picnic for two in the lush Makaranga gardens for R440. The basket features eats like nachos with a cream cheese and chive dip, chicken salsa wraps, mini fish cakes, fruit skewers and decadent chocolate brownies. This Valentine’s Day deal will run until the end of February and booking is essential.
