Only 100 tickets available for this exclusive Luke Dale-Roberts charity dinner

Chef Luke Dale-Roberts of Top 10 restaurant The Test Kitchen and fellow chefs Wesley Randles of The Shortmarket Club and The Commissary, Freddie Dias of The Pot Luck Club, and Ryan Cole of Salsify have announced plans for a one-night-only black tie celebration in a secret location in aid of the non-profit organisation Signature of Hope Trust.

The event will take place on Sunday 16 December, marking the Day of Reconciliation, and will welcome just 100 lucky guests. Tickets to the event will be for sale by invitation and online at R10 000 per person and there will be a limited number of tickets available at R5000 per person.

The proceeds will be donated to the Signature of Hope Trust, which will present 100% of funds to two nominated charities: the Avela Foundation and the Smile Foundation. These two foundations will administer the funds for the complete refurbishment and expansion of the Burn Unit at the Kimberley Hospital in the Northern Cape. “We are all so excited about the event,” says Luke. “It’s an opportunity for us to give back in a meaningful way while really pushing the boundaries of what we love to do – create and cook, and at the same time help change our country for the better.”

On the night, the four esteemed chefs will present a multi-course experience featuring special dishes including Mauritian-style lobster with bergamot caviar, lightly smoked market fish with pea and broad bean emulsion, and a Salsify Snickers bar with malt ice cream. The evening will also include French champagne, wines from South Africa’s leading wineries, entertainment from top local bands, a live sculpting showcase by sculptor Otto du Plessis and a chance to win some unique prizes.

There will also be plenty of surprises. The night will kick off with a pre-event soirée sponsored by Bollinger, before guests will be transported to the secret venue in chauffeured vehicles sponsored by Mercedes-Benz. Live entertainment at the venue will include surprise contributions from some of the country’s best-loved celebs, and a charity auction featuring luxury experiences and collectables. “There are a number of seriously big-ticket items on the auction schedule that we’re keeping secret, too – it’s all part of the fun of the night,” says Sandalene Dale-Roberts, the design talent behind all of Luke’s restaurants.

A limited number of tickets are available for purchase via The Test Kitchen’s website. For more information on the charities involved, visit the Smile Foundation, the Avela Foundation and Signature of Hope.
