Famous Cape chef to open first Gauteng restaurant

Celebrity chef Reuben Riffel, who has several Western Cape restaurants under his belt, has announced that he will be opening another Reuben’s in Sandton, Johannesburg. Opening on 1 August, Reuben’s Sandton will be chef Riffel’s very first Gauteng restaurant.

It will have a similar focus to that of the Franschhoek location, with a nod to local and global flavours in both new dishes and time-honoured classics. The large 100-seater space will offer an à la carte menu that will feature all Reuben’s signature dishes as well as a selection of new ones. Jozi foodies can expect dishes like creamy peri-peri livers with Gorgonzola and warm brioche toast; Wagyu burger with boerenkaas; Asian beef cheek and oxtail with coconut steamed basmati rice; and crispy pork belly with pork croquette, ssamjang, and compressed mango and papaya.

Housed in The Capital Moloko Hotel, the restaurant is currently receiving its final touches before it opens on 1 August. Reuben’s Sandton will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and will also offer an outdoor patio and bar, a 12-seater private dining area and a cigar bar.
