Food trucks to follow in the Cape winelands and Garden Route

With sprawling vineyards and stunning views, the winelands is the perfect place to park off and dish up some delicious foods. Perhaps its only competition is the unmissable Garden Route. We’ve rounded up both area’s fantastic food trucks.


Bar Di Bar

Here it’s all about craft beer, craft beer and more craft beer, with a range of local brews on offer. The 1975 classic Kombi can be found at various markets and festivals around the winelands, or at its home on Laborie Wine Estate, where tasty tapas is also available.

Jack Rabbit

Like their Facebook page to keep abreast of their whereabouts.
Tuck into toasted Cubanos, chilli poppers, burger sliders, pork-belly sandwiches and rustic gourmet pizzas. Catch Jack Rabbit at food and wine festivals in the area as well as at some Cape Town events.

Ishushu Wood Fired Pizzas

This is the food truck for crisp, wood-fired pizzas with a range of delicious toppings, from juicy rib to buttery avo, with banting and gluten-free bases also available. Follow the smell of cheesy pizza and find them at certain wine estates, or at sporting events in the area. They’ve also branched out to include a branch in Technopark.

Oh Só Peachy

These guys keep it clean with raw juices, healthy smoothies and wholesome food. Vegan and banting-friendly items are also available. Find them at various music festivals in the area.

Terbo’ Truck

Follow them on Facebook.
Terbodore Coffee Roasters from KZN started up this quirky coffee truck in the Cape winelands. Enjoy fresh, hot Fairtrade brews with a savoury or sweet pastry twist. Grab your cuppa in the beautiful Franschhoek winelands at various food markets in the area.

Garden Route


You can follow them on Facebook.
Serving traditional German sausages as well as a signature spicy curry wurst, this truck can be found at the Friday Night Market at Narnia Village, Knysna, from 4pm to 8pm, and Mosaic Market in Sedgefield from 8am to 2pm on Saturdays.

Greg’s Cookin

Follow them on Facebook.
This seven-metre-long caravan-turned-food truck can be found in Plettenberg Bay in the summer. Their food truck is fully sustainable and they use fresh ingredients to serve gourmet lunches, dinners and picnic baskets. Expect options like pulled pork or roast beef tapenade sandwiches, bacon and eggs on sourdough and brisket flatbreads. They also do drinks like homemade lemonade and iced tea and desserts of brownies and healthy chocolate fondants.

These healthy food advocates are busy. They’ve branched out from just being a food truck to include catering and a deli called Brunch. However, at the food truck you can still expect old favourites like breakfast in a cup, a banting Asian green salad and toasted sandwiches. Also nab a gluten-free chocolate brownie.
