Where everyone’s booking right now

Wondering where everyone’s eating out this winter? This list reveals the restaurants that have received the most bookings on the Eat Out app for the month of July. (The app shows venues near you that take online bookings, making it super easy to secure that reservation.)

Café del Sol Botanico (Bryanston, Johannesburg)

Sibling of the award-winning Café del Sol Classico restaurant, Botanico serves much-loved traditional Italian cuisine in a beautiful indoor-outdoor set-up. (Psst – there’s a great bar next door.)

Cattle Baron Steak Ranch (Tyger Waterfront, Cape Town)

This flagship sets the bar high for the other restaurants in the chain. Obviously the thing to eat is meat, but the vast menu offers popular retro picks like blue-cheese snails, giant baked mushrooms and avo-and-prawn cocktail.

Den Anker Bar & Restaurant (V&A Waterfront, Cape Town)

The appeal here is surely the extensive list of Belgian beers and the popular tastings – not to mention the necessity of locking down a table at this popular tourist destination.

De Grendel Restaurant (Panorama, Cape Town)

Great views over Cape Town – it’s in a suburb called Panorama, after all – plus attention to detail and a delicious surprising menu make this one of the Mother City’s most popular spots.

Forti Grill & Bar (Menlyn, Pretoria)

Owner Forti Mazzone is the larger-than-life personality behind this popular Italian spot in the new Time Square Casino in the capital.

Lonely Hearts Club (Melville, Johannesburg)

The owners of Hell’s Kitchen and La Santa Muerte have opened this tapas spot in a landmark building in hip Melville. One of the highlights is reportedly the 80s music, so roll up your jacket sleeves and fit right in.

Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant (Gardens, Cape Town)

This is just one fave of The Test Kitchen’s chef Luke Dale Roberts. He says he goes for the crispy fish fillet with ginger, chilli and fish sauce. No biggie.

The Stack (Gardens, Cape Town)

One of the best places for a sneaky quiet gin on the patio, The Stack serves up classic French bistro fare in a sumptuous setting tinted with trademark emerald and hot pink.

Tiger’s Milk (Kloof Street, Cape Town)

This bar is known for its buzzy atmosphere and crowd-pleasing food. Being able to book for sociable drinks on popular Kloof Street is a bonus.
