Great winter specials in Durban

While Durban’s winters are usually a touch more balmy than the rest of the country, the city’s restaurants still serve up some pretty delicious specials to keep your bank account happy.

1904 Bistro Américain (Kloof) ?

Cosy up in Kloof and enjoy the burger and beer special on Mondays, where you get a juicy cheeseburger and fries with a 330ml CBC Pilsner for just R89.

Afro’s Chicken (around Durban)

Order food for eight people with the Afro’s lunch platter with wraps or burgers for R395. The box comes with chips, coleslaw, chicken livers, chicken strips, and four wraps or burgers. Alternatively grab the Regmaaker deal on Thursdays for R59. This comes with egg, streaky bacon, chicken strips, chips, livers and a toasted roll.

Atasca (Durban North)

Take advantage of the daily lunch special from 12pm to 3pm. This includes two courses for R149 or three courses for R159. Both come with a complimentary sangria, Amstel or Strongbow Cider. If your appetite’s a little smaller, you can just order a main for only R79.

Big Easy Wine Bar & Grill by Ernie Els ?

From the month of July until September, Big Easy is pulling out all the stops. Every Monday you can enjoy a gourmet burger and chips served with a 500ml draft of your choice for only R170 per person. Tuesdays brings about their ‘Tid-Bit Specials’ where you can select two tid-bit items from their menu and receive a third, free. This special is only available on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm. Every Wednesday, guests can tuck into a 600g sirloin with sauces and sides for only R195 per person or wait until Thursday comes around to enjoy wine tasting between 5pm and 7pm at R175 per person.

Circus Circus (Snell Parade)

Warm up with half price on all burgers and pastas every Tuesday. The offer excludes the ‘Mother of all Burgers’ as well as kiddies’ meals.

Col’Cacchio (Nationwide)

A glass of vino to accompany a pizza on Tuesday nights out no longer seems like such a splurge at Col’Cacchio, where patrons can buy a pizza or pasta and get a less expensive pizza or pasta free. Enjoy the huge range of pastas and pizzas, including options for vegans and vegetarians, like the Cosi Verde with its spinach base, vegan cheese, broccoli, edamame, vegan basil pesto, spring onion and black pepper. On Mondays, spice up your winter evening with half-price burritos for those dining in only.

Havana Grill (North Beach)

Enjoy a two-course lunch for R120 or a three-course lunch for R140, with a complimentary glass of Bellingham red, white or rosé, a 330ml Poison City draught, or a Tanqueray Gin and tonic.

Jack Salmon (Glenashley)

Enjoy 30 to 50% off sushi from 12.30pm to 6.30pm every weekday (excludes public holidays). Also pretend it’s summer at the Hillcrest and Salt Rock branches with half-price gin cocktails and a R99 menu on ladies’ nights on Tuesdays.

Moyo (uShaka) ?

Tuck into the winter set menu at R189 per person for two courses and R229 for three courses. This special is valid until the end of August and is available for lunch and dinner, Monday to Sunday. Also enjoy the Ushaka breakfast buffet for R99 per person on Saturdays.

Olive & Oil (Glenwood)

Cosy up with your partner for a date-night on Tuesdays with a three-course set menu for R299.95 per couple. You can also enjoy the leisurely lunch special with a two-course (R149.95) or three-course meal (R159.95) with a complimentary carafe of wine, Heineken beer or gin and tonic. Also nab half-price cocktails Mondays to Thursdays from noon to 7pm.
