As residents and restaurant owners in the area, husband-and-wife team Luca and Moyah Merola saw a need for an upmarket bar in Sea Point where locals can enjoy a post-work drink or a Saturday afternoon rugby game while sipping on a few craft beers.

The gastropub-style menu will offer everything from bar snacks to heartier sit-down fare. A selection of tapas and starters including spicy peri-peri chicken livers, barbecue chicken wings and deep-fried olives will keep peckish bar hoppers happy, while burgers like The Snob, with pure beef patty, rocket, bacon, brie, cranberry sauce and toasted walnuts or The Kevin Bacon, with three pieces of bacon and fresh avo, will be on offer to soak up the local craft brews.

Steak lovers will also be taken care of with local premium grills including rib-eye, T-bone, and pork and beef ribs. And to round off the meal, there will be traditional desserts like banana splits, coke floats and a sweet pie of the day.

As for the drinks, The Press Bar & Grill offering will focus on local bottles, featuring a selection of craft beers and wines from small family-owned and boutique wineries. The on-tap selection will boast favourite names like CBC, Jack Black, Striped Horse and Devil’s Peak.

The décor of the new eatery will be a fusion of prohibition 1920s and contemporary industrial chic. The bar will be the centrepiece of the space, covering the length of the interior dining area. For warmer days, a sunlit courtyard behind the building will provide an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Main Road.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner from the end of June 2016 and for breakfast later in the year. Stay tuned to Eat Out for the official opening dates.
