Nic van Wyk leaves Barnyard Brasserie

Acclaimed chef, Nic van Wyk, previously of Terroir (Eat Out Restaurant of the Year 2006), has left the popular Barnyard Brasserie in Tygervalley, to return home to Kleine Zalze.

Heading up the kitchen at the Kleine Zalze Lodge, the next month or so will see van Wyk reinterpreting the lodges exisiting menu as well as expanding into catering for intimate events and specialised wine-and-food pairing evenings.

Ultimately, his aim is to create a relaxed brasserie-type eatery catering to those with simple tastes and high expectations – good steaks, fresh salads and sumptuous burgers – while still focusing on the quality of the food and the produce used.

Future plans include a makeover of the Kleine Zalze Golf Club, which will be turned into an upmarket estate club house perfect for after-golf drinks, sundowners or food-and-wine pairing events.
