‘Nu-African’ at Cognito

The contemporary afro-chic Cognito Restaurant in Stellenbosch has recently launched a new menu.

Cognito dishes up a blend of African and South African cuisine from chef Michelle Kromhout, which they call ‘Nu-African’, amidst desert and earthy hues and textures in the surrounding décor.

Highlights from the new menu

Prawn and Avo Wrap
Grilled tiger prawns and avo slices tossed with fresh watercress and an aromatic pineapple-and-peppadew salsa, served with a mesclun seed salad and pineapple dressing

African Garlic Scallops
Scallops cooked in a creamy paprika-and-garlic coconut sauce, flavoured with mild chilli, arranged on refreshing cucumber ribbons

Prawn and Chicken Curry
A Cognito Favourite
Pan-fried tiger prawns and chicken strips smothered in a sweet Malay coconut curry sauce, with caramelised banana, coriander rice and a poppadum

Inciniba
Seared ostrich medallions served with a slow-cooked creamy mushroom risotto, complemented by a rich gorgonzola sauce and sweet stir-fry vegetables

‘Upcoming restaurant in the centre of town. Great atmosphere, service and decor. They have just launched a new menu in their own fusion style and their winelist is pretty impressive’. – Scott Burger, Eat Out web browser.
