Where to order decadent hot chocolate in Durban

Warm winters or not, these KZN cafés and eateries pour some pretty decadent and comforting hot chocolates to ward off any chill. From Belgian to Italian, here’s where to order the most indulgent hot chocolate in Durban.

Cacao Chocolate Bar (Umhlanga Ridge)

This chocolate bar is for serious chocoholics. The menu comprises all things cocoa – including the hot drink, made with hot or cold milk or coffee and a combination of dark and milk Belgian chocolate. The signature Hot Chocolate Cacao Deluxe is unadulterated melted chocolate simply served over a flame. If you’re feeling extra wicked, try the Cacao drink: a concentrated hit of dark Belgian chocolate that’s served over a flame and sipped through a straw.

Delish Sisters (Salt Rock)

This pretty little eatery is known for serving beautiful, wholesome food to North Coast locals and the drinks are no exception. Order your mug of decadent hot chocolate which is incredibly creamy and refined sugar free. The treat is served with a Lindt Chocolate Ball for extra indulgence. Also keep an eye out for the hot chocolate special of spiced hot chocolate with cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.

Jacksonville Coffee (Moses Mabhida Stadium)

This popular coffee spot can be found at markets and events as well as at their coffee hatch at Moses Mabhida Stadium. The hot chocolate here is made with good quality chocolate and steamed milk, and is poured into a cup lined with Nutella for an extra hit of cocoa decadence.

Old Town Italy (Umhlanga)

Master of the South African version of the cronut and good gelato, this beautiful Italian market and eatery pours a killer hot chocolate. The steaming cup of cocoa is made with imported Venchi dark hot chocolate for that authentic taste of Italy. If you prefer your hot drinks with a kick, go for the Nutella mocha. Enjoy with an indulgent pastry from the bakery.

Vovo Telo (Umhlanga)

Pleasure seekers will favour the hot choc selection here. Order the Belgian hot chocolate which requires some DIY stirring as a mug of warm milk is served with a stick of decadent dark chocolate. There is also a sweet white chocolate option and a comforting orange hot chocolate.
