Oyster time in Knysna

Thank heavens it’s almost time for the Knysna Oyster Festival again. The annual festival, taking place from 6-15 July 2007 in the gorgeous Garden Route town of Knysna, is a wonderful winter mini-break activity with plenty of oysters, food and adventure on offer.

You could join in on the cycling, running, adventure racing and paddling…or, you could just sit back and watch the frenzy whilst dining on delicate mollusks with a glass of bubbly of course.

Then, in between oysters, take a trundle around the craft market, taste some wines, or watch the myriad of oyster competitions from cooking them to opening them to eating them.

The Pick ‘n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival is now in its 24th year – this year brings a new addition called the Young Oyster Festival, to be held at the local primary school.

Plenty of child-focused activities, crafts and presentations will keep your tots busy.

What a gorgeous way to spend a weekend in the middle of winter.

Best to get your accommodation soon – for more information and the full program of events see www.oysterfestival.co.za. For accommodation contact Knysna Tourism on +27 44 382 5510 or www.tourismknysna.co.za.
