Partner content: This Capetonian food truck is dishing up delectable international street food

Food trucks have remained trendy, popping up at our favourite festivals and parties. But in Cape Town it can be hard to choose just one – especially when the decision hinges on a type of food. Enter CosmoCafé. Popular at parties, this food truck is as versatile as its food is delicious.

Want a Moroccan party? CosmoCafé will serve up tagines and cous cous. Or you could choose Pakistani cuisine, falafel balls or prego chicken wraps. The list goes on. This food truck will design a menu to suit any occasion, putting their passion for perfecting new recipes to the test.

CosmoCafé is the brainchild of Mary Felaar, who is from Joburg originally but was seduced by the magic of the Mother City. “I fell in love with the diversity of Cape Town,” says Mary. Its cosmopolitan nature is where her food truck got its name, and its diversity inspired a food truck where variety is what drives them. CosmoCafé’s ethos is to prepare everything fresh on the day using only the best ingredients. It’s this dedication that has gotten them high praise from nostalgic expatriates.

Their current customisable menu features Cuban shredded beef sandwiches or garlic-and-citrus chicken wraps; aubergine lasagne and chicken fettuccini made with homemade pasta; and curries of brinjal, potato, cauliflower or peas. There’s no doubt vegans and vegetarians will be well looked after. Also on offer could be their popular Philly cheesesteak sandwiches or their BBQ pulled pork wraps with coleslaw. Hungry yet?
