Partner content: Fresh flavour at Cape Town Fish Market with new Signature Sushi

The Cape Town Fish Market opened its doors almost 20 years ago when restaurateur Douw Krugmann purchased a fresh fish retail store at Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Today, the Cape Town Fish Market is a vibrant restaurant that serves famously fresh seafood in a chic yet informal surrounding.

The décor places a strong emphasis on Cape Town’s picturesque landscape and captures the soul of bygone days in various fishing harbours through the use of historical photographs, obtained from various Cape Town museums.

When it opened in 1997, Cape Town Fish Market was the first South African restaurant to feature a sushi conveyor belt, which is still a firm favourite amongst sushi lovers today.

The menu offers a variety of seafood dishes and sensational sushi, as well as a choice of delicious meat, poultry and vegetarian dishes. There’s the old favourite hake and chips and delectable seafood platters, the exotic rainbow trout salad and chic, fresh oysters, as well as the the classic seafood curry.

One of the highlights on the menu is the new Signature Sushi, which is a feast for the senses. Try the crayfish and mango rolls with avocado, caviar and spicy mayo dressing; or the tuna crust rolls topped with tempura crumbs and sweet soy dressing. Other favourites include the volcano rolls, soya-cured salmon and tuna tartare, which is served with sesame seeds, nori chips, a shiso herb mix and a sweet soy dressing. Wash this down with an ice-cold bottle of Bottega prosecco – perfect for those sunny days.

Cape Town Fish Market is fully licensed and offers a carefully selected range of the finest South African wines.

The combination of fish market and restaurant gives customers the option to order a variety of seafood from the fresh fish market with its display of live lobsters, prawns, oysters, mussels and fresh fish to be specially prepared in preferred proportions, or fresh fish can be bought to prepare at home.

So whether you’re in the mood for a quick sushi lunch, a romantic lobster dinner for two, or you want to buy a fresh tuna steak to impress dinner guests, the Cape Town Fish Market is the place to go!
