The Lawns at the Roundhouse (Camps Bay)

A picnic at the Lawns comes with rolling green grass and spectacular views of the mountains and the sea. For R595 for two, you can feast on fresh bread and dips, a cheese-and-meat board, wraps, and the cake of the day. Remember to book at least a day in advance.

Simon’s at Groot Constantia (Constantia)

From 1 November a real favourite makes its summer 2020 debut – be sure to find a spot on the lawns or at the chairs and tables, taking in the amazing views as you enjoy the delectable treats from the Simon’s picnic menu. Highlights from the basket-for-two menu include hummus, chicken liver pâté, local cheeses, a baguette, cured and home-cooked cold cuts, classic coronation chicken salad, and potato salad with mustard mayo. A basket for two costs R395 while a single basket costs R220. Vegetarian, children’s and halaal menus are also available.

Twelve Apostles (Camps Bay)

Twelve Apostles will set up a picnic basket in a romantic spot for two, which comes with breathtaking views of Table Mountain and panoramic views of the sea. The package includes a picnic basket packed with delectable treats for R800 for two.

The Norval Foundation (Constantia)

The Norval Foundation is not only home to a range of incredible art displays all year round but also a sculpture garden where locals and the like can throw out a blanket and enjoy a summer picnic.

The Skotness Restaurant at the Norval Foundation offers pre-packed picnic hampers for R295 per person, this fee includes entrance to the park and parking. Kiddies picnic baskets are available for R95 per person. In the picnic basket you will find a range of scrumptious bites from mini lemon meringue to potato salad skewers with aioli. Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance and no outdoor picnic food items are allowed inside.

 

The Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel (Cape Town)

As one of the most iconic locations in the Mother City known for its premium accommodation offering, pristine grounds and more, the Mount Nelson Hotel also offers gourmet picnics. Served in a wicker basket, the picnic offering comprises of light bites, artisanal charcuterie, cheeses, homemade tapenades and more.

The picnic baskets cost R395 per adult and R250 for kids. The picnic basket option is only available from Wednesday to Sunday from 1pm onwards.
