This October, we’ll be announcing the Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Best Everyday Eateries. How does it all work? The 2018 winners will be determined by tallying every reader review written from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2018. Restaurants that receive a large volume of high scores from Eat Out users will be visited by our professional critics, who will give their own ratings. Final results will then be based on a 50-50 composite score from users and the critics.

Don’t forget to rate and review your favourite to put them in the running. (The easiest way to write a review is on our free app, plus you could win some pretty awesome prizes. Download it now.)

LBV (Bryanston) 🍽

I loved my experience at LBV. The food was amazing, with great attention to detail. Atmosphere is relaxed and cosy.

Roots Restaurant at Forum Homini (Krugersdorp) 🍽

We visited Roots on 9 August 2018. A really exquisite setting, excellent food and service. 5 Stars.

Van Der Linde Restaurant (Linden) 🍽

We stopped for breakfast. They had a lovely harvest table on offer and some great options on the menu. I will definitely be back to try lunch and dinner.

Geet Indian Restaurant (Brooklyn) 🍽

This place deserves much more than 5 stars. It’s such a wonderful hidden gem in Pretoria. The waiter, Faith, knew her food like a book; every dish she explained to perfection. There was not a single dish I can say we did not enjoy. Have no clue how they do all these flavours, but it’s just magic and one of the best Indian food [I’ve ever] eaten.

The Farmer’s Daughter (Howick)

Gorgeous views and cakes. Friendly service.

Fish on the River (Port Shepstone) 🍽

Nicely situated along the river with a beautiful view. We ordered pizzas as take-away and were assisted by 2 very friendly ladies. While we waited we had a soft drink (R17 for a can of coke is a little expensive) but enjoyed the vibe very much. Nice well-priced pizzas. Will def be back to try the seafood and will make a day of it. They’re also wanting to do pasta soon, yum!

Cape Town

Boston Coffee (Bellville)

They clearly take pride in what they do, be it roasting their beans, steaming milk or that homemade sweet mustard on one of their sourdough sarmies. A regular stop for me. To add to their repertoire, Boston Slice is now open in Welgemoed Centre – truly authentic pizzas. Do yourself a favour and give these guys a try. I have never been disappointed.

Fat Cactus (Gardens) 🍽

Undoubtedly my favourite Tex-Mex restaurant in Cape Town. The food is always good and the staff are always on top of their game. The margarita jugs are a must-have and thee party starter on any given day AND their tequila menu is endless – I just can’t resist the gingerbread-flavoured one. Their list of starters, nachos and quesadillas never disappoints. I go back for the enchiladas every time. This spot won’t disappoint.

The Shop (Three Anchor Bay) 🍽

I took my fiancé to The Shop to celebrate his birthday. All I can say is WOW and thank you! Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and chefs. I had especially requested a favourite meal as a surprise for my hubby-to-be and it was just amazing! Thank you for being so passionate about the food that you serve. Will be back for sure with more friends and family. A value-for-money and top-class experience.

Giuseppe’s Pizzeria (Somerset West)

This place is busy every night of the week. They serve good wood-fired pizzas at good prices. All the usual toppings you would expect at your neighbourhood pizzeria. It’s the kind of place you would go out to with your varsity friends and each order your own pizza. The setting is quaint – a bunch of tables squashed into the small space makes for an intimate and cosy atmosphere. They don’t have a liquor licence so bring your own.

Noop (Paarl) 🍽

Simply the best steak in town! Very cosy and friendly staff. [The] chef is the owner, which makes the difference!
