Video: Instant burgers, fries and cola – just add water

This make-your-own mini-burger kit, comprised entirely of powder sachets and plastic containers, might be the weirdest thing we’ve ever seen. We think it might be candy; we’re sure it’s crazy.

The plastic tray that houses the ingredients (we use this term loosely) is cut up into sections for measuring cups and baking trays to cook the teeny chips, buns and patties in the microwave, while the coke, ketchup and cheese (again, loose terms) are ready to eat as is. All are mixed from sachets of powder and water.

While the video – with its gentle rustling and mixing sounds – is oddly calming and infinitely watchable, the finished product is a little worrying. We have questions. What is it actually made of? What does it taste like? But most pressing of them all: Why?

It’s not the first Happy Kitchen kit for kids from Japanese candy brand Kracie – they offer make-your-own mini cakes, doughnuts and pizza, too.

Would you ever buy, make or eat something like this? Let us know in the comments.
