Watch: 3 speedy chocolate desserts

In need of a reason to eat chocolate? Fear not: that’s what we’re here for. If it’s the good, bean-to-bar kind with a high cocoa content, it’s said to release hormones called phenylethylamines that give you the same giddy feeling that falling in love does. Good as it is on its own – here’s looking at you, single origin 70% chocolate – chocolate is a match made in heaven with a host of delicious ingredients. Case in point: chai milk chocolatepeppermint and roasted macadamia milk chocolate and cardamom dark chocolate and lime and ginger dark chocolate. The list goes on… Depending on the chocolate you choose to buy, you can also make a positive difference. If your slab or bar features an UTZ Certified label, it means the chocolate was made from cocoa that was sustainably farmed and sourced. How’s that for feel-good food?

1. Chocolate and almond figs

Snip cuts into the top of figs. Dip in melted chocolate and sprinkle with flaked almonds.

2. Chocolate-dipped pear hearts

Use cookie cutters to cut heart shapes into slices of pear. Dip in melted chocolate and sprinkle with desiccated coconut.

3. Chocolate filled doughnuts

Melt De Villiers Sea Salt and Caramel milk chocolate bar and pipe into round doughnuts.
