Chocolate pizza served with vanilla ice cream and hot chocolate sauce

Essentially a giant brownie, this recipe takes the concept of the chocolate pizza up a notch. It comes fresh from Christine Campendale's new book, Everyday Delicious.

Serves: 8

Ingredients

150g chopped dark chocolate
100g butter
300ml cake flour
2,5 ml baking powder
pinch of salt
2 eggs
180ml castor sugar
100g pecan nuts
125ml fresh cream
100g broken into smaller pieces dark chocolate
vanilla ice cream
fresh cherries (when available)

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Line a pizza pan with baking paper and grease well. Melt the chocolate and the butter in the microwave oven on a medium setting. Cool slightly. Sift the flour, baking powder and the salt together. Add the eggs and the castor sugar to the melted chocolate mixture and beat well until smooth. Stir in the sifted flour and the nuts. Turn into the prepared pizza pan and bake for about 15 minutes. Cool and remove from the pizza pan.

For the chocolate sauce:
Heat the cream and chocolate together gently and stir until smooth.

To serve:
Cut the pizza into 8 wedges and top with vanilla ice cream, cherries and a good drizzle of hot chocolate sauce.
