Apart from the multiple-course degustation menu and the à la carte offering, there’s also a ‘comfort food’ menu for live-in guests. The Kabeljou fillet with emulsified artichoke on parmesan gnocchi is positively scrumptious, or try the tagine with dried fruit and couscous, or veal kidneys and sweetbreads blanquette with coconut milk basmati. Desserts are decadent and include banana zabaglione sprinkled with dry banana.
Wine:An entire section is devoted to Cuvée Spéciales – not only champagnes, but also local MCCs such as Colmant Brut. All the varietals are represented, with loads of red blends and a good number of Cape blends.
Service:From the extremely suave manager to table runners, all staff are elegant, smart and know their stuff.
Ambience:Coco Fathi Reinharz’s dining room could match any fine dining establishment elsewhere in the world. It is simple and elegant, with the added benefit of being able to order great food 24/7.
And...:The menu reads like culinary porn: gem squash cappuccino with snoek and cumin froth; calamari stuffed with smoked salmon and chive trout risotto; flambéed roast quail with port, figs and gorgonzola purée; caramelised butternut on toasted brioche with melting foie gras mousse...
