Food:

This patisserie-cum-café eatery is where Cape Town meets. The breakfasts are hearty, the croissants fluffy and the coffee freshly ground. Flapjacks with crispy bacon are a great way to start the day here. The chalkboard announces the lunchtime selection of tasty filled pitas and ciabattas, pastas and salads. The Asian rump on a piece of fresh ciabatta with rocket and a tasty relish is substantially divine and so is the grilled halloumi salad with rocket.

Wine:

Unlicensed. Wide selection of good coffee and tea. The caffè latte is very good.

Service:

Warm and welcoming.

Ambience:

The tiny café is always bustling. The vibe is low-key with funky retro decor.

And...:

The cupcakes and other gorgeously decorated baked goods are legendary. Plus here they are happy to accommodate a well-behaved dog. There is now a branch in the Cape Quarter. (AL, September 2010)
