Food:

The toppings may be old-fashioned (regina, quattro stagioni, siciliana), but the ultra-thin pizza bases are certainly not stodgy. All salads come in three sizes. Lasagne is meaty-rich, like Mama makes it, and a bowl of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry ice cream with frothy hot chocolate sauce rounds off a nostalgic meal.

Wine:

Two chalkboards offer a selection of accessible wines, with house wine by the glass. The fridge is stocked with Peroni beers, of course.

Service:

The experienced, friendly waiters and waitresses are always run off their feet but keep their humour, while owners Eric and Jack are often on hand, making sure you’re enjoying yourself and good-naturedly complimenting the ladies.

Ambience:

Posticino is worn in and comfortable so, even though the tablecloths are freshly laundered, you won’t feel mortified if you knock over a glass of red wine during a particularly animated conversation.

And...:

For a quick city lunch, visit Posticino Express on Greenmarket Square. (MM, September 2010)
