Food:

Don’t pass go, just start with the kataifi-wrapped prawns – unusual and delicious – served with apricot sweet chilli dressing. Try the filo parcels stuffed with spinach, chicken, and mozzarella with a creamy wild mushroom sauce. Very good pasta dishes include ravioli and linguini with chorizo and baby marrows. The lamb shish kebab is superb, as is the ostrich bobotie. Fried chocolate-filled cigars with ice cream is a decadent.

Wine:

Adequate for most tastes but the most fastidious, and they won’t be here any way.

Service:

Friendly and just like being at home (in a circus).

Ambience:

This is food as theatre, and yet it doesn’t take second place to the atmosphere, which is brilliantly cluttered and great fun. Just let your hair down and unwind, Cape Town-style.

And...:

Go early and down a cocktail or two with the locals who just love this place. (GL, October 2011)
