Food:

Chef-patron Theresa Peters comes from Cape Town’s first family of Indian restaurateurs who have cooked authentic fare for generations. Inspired by her spiritual path, this purely vegetarian venture serves healthy plant-based cuisine suitable for vegans with no dairy, no gelatine and no ghee. Her gentle, fragrant fare is subtly spiced but full of flavour. Skilfully using coconut cream and textured soya, she creates signature soya vegetarian curry and biryani and showcases the humble chickpea and lentil. You decide on rice, rotis or wraps. The locals love the generous servings and great prices.

Wine:

No alcohol. Try a mango lassi or Bombay crush with rose syrup.

Service:

If you’re after curry in a hurry, you’ve come to the right place. It might take hours to simmer the food but they’re quick on the draw when it comes to serving it.

Ambience:

A homely family-run café with a feel-good spiritual vibe.

And...:

Try a selection of some of the best homemade samoosas in town, and eggless, milk-free chocolate fudge cake. (GH, October 2011)
