3 Chefs Bistro

Each dish is prepared with love and precision. There is a South African influence with game on the menu but food interpretations have classic roots, like Norwegian salmon with a lime beurre blanc served on potato dauphinoise with scallops and carrot purée.

A careful compilation listed by varietals, plus a couple of champagnes and magnums.

Affable, knowledgeable and well-mannered.

The double-volume, glass-fronted restaurant twinkles at night, although the contemporary decor is a little lacking in warmth.

Absolutely the worst restaurant I have ever been to. We had training staff taking our order that have never ever worked there before. There was no manager on duty according to the "manager" . The service was disgusting, and we waited and waited - in the 2 hours and 30 minutes we were there eating time was around 10 minutes. It doesn't take 1hour 45 minutes to make 2 servings of Tempura Prawns (3 of on each plate). All I can say is stay away, you'll thank me for not wasting your time. I would give no stars but I guess this won't allow me.

My husband and I used our Groupon voucher at the 3 Chefs Bistro on Saturday 17 September and were very unhappy with what we received for our voucher. As stated below what we were supposed to receive was:

When we arrived we received an A4 piece of paper printed with our “Group on a la carte” menu. We could choose from 2 starters; Ravioli in butternut or fishcakes – we ordered one of each. The fishcake tasted as if it was made from canned pilchards, I am not exaggerating and the Ravioli was not good at all. 3 main courses were on offer; Rump Steak with chips OR vegetables, chicken curry or line fish. We both opted for the steak requesting it to be medium, they were well done. We decided to order sauces and a side order of vegetables with or meal as they arrived on the plate as is with chips. I ordered a pepper sauce, which was warm cream, un-thickened with pepper sprinkled on it. My husband ordered mushroom sauce, which was warm cream un-thickened with mushrooms in it. Fortunately the mushrooms were cooked. For desert the options were homemade ice-cream and chocolate sauce or lamingtons. We ordered one of each. There were 2 scoops of ice-cream, 1 vanilla and 1 unidentifiable and inedible, yellowish in colour with no chocolate sauce. The lamington was a lamington. I am sure you’ll agree that this is not “Fine dining” nor “Inspired dishes”.



We paid an additional R 80 for 2 glasses of wine, the 2 sauces and side vegetable excluding tip, so in all with the Groupon voucher of R 250 paid R 330 for one of the worst meals out we have ever had. We think that all 3 Chefs must have had the night off. We would have complained to management, but had witnessed a loud complaint from another patron who wasn’t a Groupon holder (the couple were eating prawns I believe) and we frankly wanted to put the overall bad experience behind us.
