Foo d Although the food is supposed
to be simpler here than at
sister restaurant The Tasting Room,
the abbreviated menu is crammed
with imaginative and superbly
thought-out offerings. Brilliant to
look at, the wood-baked mustard
and celeriac soufflé with beetroot
carpaccio and pickled carrot and
parsnip salad is dreamy in texture
and flavour, as the earthy yet sweet
beetroot sang in two-part harmony
with the tangy carrot. The roasted
chicken with potatoes is in the ‘firm
favourite’ slot – either for a hungry
trencherman or for two to share.
Wine A list to make a wine lover
weep – with pleasure. Eclectic, it’s
a thing of true beauty, with wines
to satisfy both the trophy hound
and the bargain hunter.
Se rvice It doesn’t get any better
than this. It prides itself on its people
and teamwork and everyone is
affable, well trained and charming.
