My favourite restaurant in Johannesburg. High quality original food, well crafted menu, excellent service in a beautiful setting for the discerning dinner. Not a Spur type family restaurant but something for everyone from vegetarian to steak lovers, young and young at heart. I love the food at Coobs, it is fresh with a focus on sustainable and seasonal with an interested in free range and much of the food comes from the owner, James' family farm which is admirable. James is familiar with all items on the menu and hands on in the kitchen. Coobs recently opened the supper club next door which I am eager to try. The food is healthy and being an ethical eater I appreciate the free range beef and game meat on the menu. The menu changes regularly and the desserts are delicious. This is at least the 12th time I have been to Coobs. I have also taken friends and family who enjoyed it and returned. The wine selection is largely from boutique wine estates and a change to have something different. The owner, James has been there each time, attentive and taking an interest. The waiters are all friendly and knowledgeable, with the majority of the waiters being the original group of waiters from when the restaurant launched. We return regularly. We love Coobs and can't recommend it enough.
