I had heard about Dropkick Murphy's but I hadn't been in the area to give them a try. If you live in Durban and you haven't heard of them, you must be living under a rock. This restaurant is all over my Facebook and my friends were constantly talking about it - maybe you have more civilised friends than I do?! Myself and my other half set off on a sunny Saturday to finally sample the tasty cuisine at Dropkick Murphy's. We managed to find a parking chop chop which is almost unheard of in Florida Road, no jokes. We walked in keen to sit in the outside area but it was a free for all for the smokers so we thought we would see what the inside holds. The inside area isn't really suitable for dining and is more suitable for a quick drink & a bite after work so we opted for the outside area where there were actually tables and benches to park our behinds on. Our first waiter was super friendly and efficient but had no name. We perused the menu before settling on Mozzarella Sticks for me and Chicken Wings for my better half. The mozzarella sticks were divine - they would be even better with a sprinkle of origanum but that's neither here nor there. The chicken wings were finger-licking good but the skin should have been crispy. For our mains, we each had a burger accompanied by a cheese sauce. Boy oh boy, that cheese sauce was life changing. The burgers were good but we were all about that cheese sauce. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed to have ended his shift in the middle of our visit and never bothered to tell us. Our new waiter also didn't introduce himself but was great to begin with. Unfortunately, when it came to the bill is when the wheels fell off. We finished our mains and must have sat for a good 15 minutes with dirty crockery on the table and no one bothering to ask if we wanted anything else. Eventually, our waiter came over to clear the table and we asked for the bill. Once we had the bill, we quickly made payment and left. All in all, we will be back for the food but not so much the service.
