We have been to Live Bait a few times and generally the food was enjoyable but we decided to take some overseas guests there for the whole Kalk Bay experience - On arrival the waitress scratched her eyebrow with the menu before handing it to me and then proceeded to burp quietly - embarrassed she left us abruptly and avoided us other than to say do you want to order - no introductions or specials offered. we ordered 3 mussels , oysters and a sushi plate, 45 minutes later the mussels arrived, cold, the sushi was prepared quickly but was left to stand on the counter attracting the flies, which another waitress keep chasing away saying jokingly that at least it wasnt ours...well!! Despite the flies the sushi was good. We had to order drinks from another waitress as our one kept hiding behind the pillar. For dessert two crème brulee’s were ordered, after another long wait they finally arrived - one ramekin was filled half way and the other filled to the top - surely there should be some sort of standard. The crème brulee was more like scrambled baked custard - when we confronted the manager he apologised and said he would give us another one - by now we as hosts were so embarrassed and left. A real disappointment all round
