Nelson's Eye is what I think of as a traditional South African steakhouse, dark panelled walls, framed pictures of Lord Nelson. Outstanding quality beef cuts (mine is a full-size fillet, no basting or sauce). For people who like sauces, they offer several made to order and scratch sauces (fo me, I just like the flavour of unaltered great beef !)All grilles come with the usual family style sides of root vegetable and creamed spinach, and a choice of starch (I usually go for the baked potato with all the fixings). An order of onion rings as a side is a must. Having explored steaks all over Cape Town, none beats and few equal the consistent high quality that we always enjoy at Nelson's Eye. Floor Manager can be a bit grumpy, but he always remembers us and welcomes us back. Wait staff is friendly and efficient. We never have room for desserts. I always appreciate the refrigerator chilled bottles of table water, just another small detail that keeps us coming back.
