Oliver’s Restaurant and Lodge

On Saturday evening 3 March 2018 me and my wife decided to act on a recommendation of Oliver's Restaurant by someone at the Rustic Butler guest house where we were staying for the weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised. What a lovely experience. When we entered the front door, we were greeted by two staff members who happened to be in the foyer and we were made to feel very welcome. After listening to our requirement for dinner without having made a booking, we were escorted to an outside area on the porch that was well furnished with comfortable chairs and a bonfire in a portable fireplace. We were told that someone will be with us shortly to offer a wine list and a food menu so that we could choose. We were told that waiting on the porch will give the kitchen opportunity to prepare our food and when they were ready, we would be shown to our table. The restaurant was not fully occupied, but there were a few tables with guests and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. To make a long story short, all the staff members, the wine steward, the steward who brought the menus and answered our questions about the food, the two people who met us in the foyer and the kitchen staff who brought the food, were all very friendly and ready to engage in conversation. We enjoyed a very good wine and exceptional food. It certainly was an evening to remember.
